Funny business

SIR – Jo Bunting, a producer on Have I Got News for You, offers some flaky reasons for not booking more women to host the show (report, July 10).

Is she really so naive as to think that the nature of a female MP’S job precludes her from having a sense of humour? Surely the attribute is a prerequisite for any woman stepping into the male-dominated, testosterone-fuelled den that is Westminster.

The producers should get a grip and invite the Conservative MP Anna Soubry to host. She would be brilliant.
