The cruellest month

-

SIR – You suggest in your Leading Article (July 14) that the weather has been “glorious”.

I would like to speak up for those of us who do not find it so. It has been an absolute horror. I have sweated, been sick and had panic attacks – and I am fed up with the endless light streaming through my windows.

I cannot travel on the Tube for fear of fainting. The smell of unwashed bodies is intensified, and people are wearing clothes that show off very unattractive bits of their bodies.

I have to keep smiling at people who tell me that it is wonderful. I long for autumnal hues, lovely breezes and balmy spring days. Carolyn Brown
