The 2018 European Youth Bridge Pairs Championships in Opatjia, Croatia, have now ended, writes Julian Pottage, Bridge Correspondent.

In the Under 26 Pairs, Tommy Brass and Ian Robson won the bronze medal and the other English pair who had qualified for the final, Michael Alishaw and Stephen Kennedy, finished fifth.

In the final of the Under 16 Pairs, Oscar Selby and Henry Rose won the bronze medal.

The two English pairs who qualified for the final of the Under 26 Women’s Pairs narrowly missed getting a medal, Yvonne Wiseman and Elizabeth Gahan, Alex Birchall and Laura Covill finishing in fourth and fifth place respectively.

In the President’s Cup, the consolation event for the 92 pairs who had not qualified for a final, Daniel Winter and Jonathan Clark came second, Hanna Tuus and India Leeming came sixth, Joshua Clarke and Henry Bissell came eighth, while the Scottish pair Glen Falconer and Botond Hajdara came twelfth.
