People watch from a ‘lava tour’ boat as the molten rock from Hawaii’s Kilauea Volcano flows into the Pacific. Today, new laws are being put in place on the tours after 23 passengers were injured by volcanic material during a sightseeing voyage. The US coastguard says boats must now stay at least 980ft away from the flowing lava, extended from the previous 160ft restriction.
