Dairy Crest rises despite butter hit

Dairy Crest said sales in the first quarter of its financial year came in 6pc higher than last year, after strong performanc­es from both its Clover and Cathedral City brands. It said that the butter market remained challengin­g, but that its “spreads portfolio continues to go from strength to strength”. Shares closed up 3.3pc.
