Water pressure

SIR – A sure way to reduce water leaks (Letters, July 19) would be for United Utilities (and others) to put a break on shareholder dividends while also reducing the annual rates for customers who do not have water meters, calculated according to how long the hosepipe ban is in place.

I am sure such measures would help to focus the minds of management and shareholders. Gerry Doyle

SIR – I have found that a daily dose of recycled bath water, with a dash of “Feel Pampered” bath cream, really works well on my courgette plants.

The runner beans, however, are not responding so enthusiastically to the pampering. Can anyone suggest an alternative cream for them? Dorothy Pymer
