De Beers buys Canadian site

De Beers has increased its exposure to Canada after agreeing to buy the owner of the Chidliak diamond resource, Peregrine Diamonds, for around $81m (£62m). With a number of mine closures set to take place over the next few years, De Beers had risked being left with only one non-african mine prior to the purchase.
