Unmended leaks

SIR – A leak repeatedly reported to our provider, Severn Trent, gushed away for weeks before it was fixed (Letters, July 20). If water companies must apply to councils to dig up roads and repair leaks it causes delays, during which responsibilty is denied. Fiona Wild
