Six arrests after woman’s throat is cut in Hilton in Manchester

- By Gareth Davies

A WOMAN with a slit throat staggered from a Hilton hotel to flag down police officers.

Four men and two women have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the victim was attacked inside the hotel in Manchester yesterday morning.

One woman wearing pink pyjamas was later seen being frogmarched from the hotel to a police van, while another in flip-flops and jeans climbed into a police vehicle handcuffed.

The four casually dressed men – aged 20, 24, and two 26-year-olds – were also arrested. The victim, a 20-year-old woman, was released from hospital last night.

Anthony Hilton, who works in a nearby letting agents, said a welldressed woman who appeared to have had her throat cut had been taken away in an ambulance.

“One of our colleagues walked past and saw a lady on the floor with what appeared to be her throat slit,” said Mr Hilton, 32, from Manchester.

“There must have been 15 undercover and normal police cars out in the street,” he added. “Police were running to and fro from the car park and the Hilton Hotel.”

Officers were flagged down by the woman shortly after 11.10am yesterday morning. A force spokesman said: “The woman is being treated for lacerations to her neck. This is not thought to be terrorism related nor thought to be a random attack.”

Witnesses said on social media the victim ran screaming into street and that some people were arrested shortly afterwards. The two women, who are believed to be aged 17 and 20, were later seen being led from the hotel in handcuffs.

Officers could be seen speaking to other guests and hotel staff in one of the bars of the Hilton, which occupies part of the 47-floor Beetham Tower.

The police spokesman said crime scenes were in place in one of the hotel rooms and outside the hotel itself.
