BBC golf blackout

SIR – I am in Cyprus for a few weeks.

Why is it that I can watch the British Open Golf via Sky on my ipad (because, presumably, they recognise my subscription), but cannot even watch the highlights – or any other programmes – on BBC iplayer, despite paying my licence fee assiduously?
