I’ve discovered Nicole’s secret to anti-ageing
It’s crude and sexist, and if there isn’t a “Stop Shaming Cougars” campaign up and running, someone should probably get on to it – but it won’t be me. Sorry. It’s the visuals. I can’t get past them. Whether it’s “head cougar” Madonna and her string of opportunistic-eyed dancers, Wendi Deng and her Hungarian model or Kate Beckinsale with the 21-year-old actor she dated last year, the sight just makes me cringe.
Maybe it’s the defiance on the women’s faces. I’m not sure dating a man out of defiance has ever been a good idea, and I’m certain using someone to make a wider point about the unfairness of established sexual and societal conventions isn’t, either. I will have to suspend my snide comments for 40-year-old Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, pictured “taking a playful shower” with Bulgarian tennis pro Grigor Dimitrov aboard a yacht in St Tropez at the weekend. She somehow manages to look the same age as him, and if you are going to date a 27-year-old, taking playful showers is about all you’d want to do.
