New homes ‘need to be ready for climate change’
Homes should be designed and built with better ventilation and more shade to offset the effects of climate change, experts have said.
The Government’s Committee on Climate Change has repeated its call for fresh standards on heat risks for new buildings. They suggest homes be fitted with increased shading, such as shutters, tinted window film and green roofs. Trees can also shade buildings and even planting a creeper up a house can keep inside temperatures down.
