Briton cleared over 2016 Bangladesh bakery siege
A British man detained for alleged involvement in a 2016 siege by Islamists in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has been released, according to reports.
Twenty people were killed on July 1 2016 when gunmen attacked the Holey Artisan Bakery, where Hasnat Karim, then 47, and his family were celebrating his daughter’s birthday.
Dhaka police said eight people had been charged. According to the BBC, Monirul Islam, the head of the police’s counter terrorism unit, said Mr Karim had been acquitted.
