Sight for sore eyes

-

Police accidentally sprayed the Tour de France peloton with tear gas yesterday in an attempt to stop protesting farmers. Welshman Geraint Thomas (left), the current yellow jersey holder, and Peter Sagan, the World Road Race champion, were among those affected by the spray and the race was stopped completely while several riders received treatment from medical teams. Police used the spray to stop protesters (top) throwing hay bales into the road but did not factor in the breeze. Yesterday’s stage, from Carcassonne to Bagneres-de-luchon takes the race into the Pyrenees for the first time as the final week begins. Sport: Pages 1-4
