Enterprising MOD

SIR – Your report (July 23) on RAF Voyager aircraft being leased to commercial airlines suggests that this will be a source of embarrassment to the Ministry of Defence.

In fact, it should be hailed as a smart innovation on the part of the MOD and Airbus. A fleet of aircraft that can cope with peaks of operational military demand yet remain able to earn commercial revenue in safer times is an example of careful specification of aircraft and of money well spent.
