Mears considers activist candidate

Social housing company Mears Group said it will consider hiring the candidate put forward by activist investor Shareholder Value Management as its new chairman, to replace Bob Holt next year. Mears had earlier this month rejected a bid by SVM to allow a vote to appoint Andrew Hogarth to the post.
