Tourist shoved aside by Queen’s Guard

-

 A tourist posing for a photograph was filmed being shoved out of the way by one of the Queen’s Guard – but the Ministry of Defence has insisted he did nothing wrong.

The woman screamed as she was pushed from behind by the soldier at Windsor Castle. The video shows that she had crossed a rope barrier, and was in the way of a marching sentry.

The MOD said: “The Household Division is proud to guard Her Majesty and honoured that people come from around the world to watch our ceremonial spectacle. The ropes are there to protect the public and our soldiers. Please stay behind them.” Tourists come from across the world to see the Guards, but when they are on the march, a soldier will shout: “Make way for the Queen’s Guard.”

The soldiers are charged with protecting royal residences, and have been seen shouting “Stay away” at tourists who impede their duties.

Last year, a guard was filmed shouting at a man who was leaning too far in to take a selfie. The startled man was then seen saluting the soldier, apparently in confusion and fear.

The units are manned by trained, serving soldiers, and have more than 350 years of history, having defended monarchs since Charles II.
