Wrong move as ‘sex for rent’ ad appears
♦ Rightmove has apologised after a “sex for rent” advert appeared on its website, causing an outcry among charities and MPS.
It was aimed at a female student and said “reduced rent is available for special favours to be discussed”.
The two-bedroom terraced house in Birmingham was priced at £100 per month and posted on Rightmove’s seemingly reputable lettings website. Jess Phillips, a local MP, told The Daily Telegraph: “Rightmove is a site I use myself and is well-respected by most people who would be horrified to think that it was being used like this.”
The Rape and Sexual Violence Project, a support group, said: “This is sexual exploitation, pure and simple.”
Rightmove said: “We’re carrying out a full review of our vetting process. This listing is clearly unacceptable.”
