Trump’s favourite news network joins rival in ban protest

DONALD TRUMP’S favourite TV network has joined with other media outlets to condemn the White House for banning a reporter from an event.

Kaitlan Collins, CNN’S White House reporter, was banned from a Rose Garden event after asking the US president about Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, and secret recordings made by his former lawyer.

Fox News, the president’s preferred network and a conservative rival to CNN, said it “stood with CNN” over the issue. Jay Wallace, Fox’s president, said: “We stand in strong solidarity with CNN for the right to full access for our journalists as part of a free and unfettered press.” The White House has had a fraught relationship with CNN, which is frequently critical of the Trump administration.
