Friday Night Is Music Night

Michael Parkinson and his “lifelong love affair with music” are the subject of this week’s Friday Night is Music Night, telling the story of his life and extensive broadcasting career through his favourite songs and styles. Parkinson recalls stories and memories of rubbing shoulders with his many musical heroes, Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby and John Lennon. Guest musicians – including Joe Stilgoe, Alison Jiear and Hailey Tuck with the BBC Concert Orchestra the BBC Big Band – perform jazz hits and US song book classics.
