Lampard’s stalker spared prison
CHRISTINE LAMPARD’S stalker, who left her afraid to leave her home alone, was spared jail yesterday.
Christof King, 39, from Brent, north-west London, sent the TV presenter chilling tweets and turned up at her home more than once during his campaign.
On one of the occasions Mrs Lampard, 39, who regularly hosts The One Show, had to hide in a bedroom with the housekeeper.
King, who wanted career advice from her, was handed a nine-month sentence, sus- pended for two years.
In May, he admitted stalking Mrs Lampard, the wife of former Chelsea and England footballer Frank, but disputed sending the messages.
After a hearing on the matter of the tweets, Judge Robin Johnson ruled at Isleworth Crown Court that King did indeed send tweets to her. Sentencing, Judge Johnson said yesterday: “Those in the public eye ... are entitled to protection from the law when some contact moves from simply irritation to being criminal.”
King was also given an indefinite restraining order that bans him from contacting both Christine and Frank Lampard, and prevents him from going within 100 yards of their home or entering their street.
He was also handed a 15day community order for rehabilitation activity, as well as 150 hours of unpaid work.
