Bloom ‘stops show to scold woman with ipad-powered fan’

ORLANDO BLOOM, the actor, interrupted his own performance in a hot theatre to berate a member of the audience who was using an ipad to power a fan, it has been claimed.

Bloom, who is starring in Killer Joe, stayed in character as he reportedly shouted at the woman to “put that f------ ipad away” and was applauded by other theatregoers.

One audience member said the Trafalgar Studios auditorium in London was “roasting” and the woman was using her ipad to power an electric fan.

A spokesman for the play did not comment on whether Bloom swore, and declined to expand on whether staff spoke to the audience member. In a statement, the producers for

Killer Joe said the incident was “dealt with swiftly and efficiently by the front of house team”.

They said Trafalgar Studios was “a very intimate space”, where the use of electronic devices was “extremely distracting for the Company”.

Mark Shenton, a theatre critic, reported an “eyewitness account” of the matinee in which Bloom told the woman: “Put that f------ ipad away now and I will wait.”

A second witness replied: “He actually said, ‘I see you in the middle filming with your ipad.’ No bad language at all.” A third wrote on Twitter that the woman “was only using it for her fan as the auditorium was roasting”.

It is the latest in a string of theatre interruptions. Two women were called “stupid and ignorant” by the cast of Titanic this month for loudly celebrating England’s World Cup win on penalties over Colombia while watching it on their phones in the front row.
