Fewer Britons illegally downloading music

The number of Britons illegally downloading music is falling.

One in 10 adults currently downloads music illegally, down from 18per cent five years ago, according to Yougov’s Music Report.

More than a third (36per cent) say using unverified sources to access music is becoming more difficult, and 22per cent of those that currently illegally download music do not expect to still be doing so in five years.

Yougov’s survey of 4,009 UK adults found 63per cent of those that have stopped illegally downloading music are now using streaming services.
