House price rises pick up in July

House prices gained some momentum in July after rising at their slowest annual rate in five years in June, mortgage lender Nationwide said yesterday. Across the UK, prices were up 2.5pc in July compared to a year earlier, a faster pace than the 2.0pc growth recorded in June. The lender expects prices to rise only 1pc in 2018.
