Four die in car crash following police chase

Four young friends have died after a car hit a tree during a police pursuit.

The men were in a BMW which crashed in Bradford, West Yorks, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has begun an investigation following the crash, with a spokesman saying: “It is understood at this time that the car was being followed by an unmarked police car at the time.”

The IOPC said the pursuit of the BMW began “as it was being driven at speed”.

The remains of the wrecked car were examined at the scene before being covered by a yellow sheet.
