Eiffel Tower is closed by strike

Visitors flocking to the Eiffel Tower at the height of the August tourist season have been locked out of the Paris attraction due to a strike.

Since Wednesday, tower workers have taken industrial action over a new visitor access policy, which employees say causes inordinately long queues.

Caroline Brawand, a Swiss tourist, said she felt “very let down”.
