Conductor sacked over assault claim
The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam has sacked its Italian chief conductor, Daniele Gatti, following media allegations of sexual assault.
It said The Washington Post’s article of July 26, alleging Gatti assaulted two women in 1996 and 2000, had irreparably damaged the relationship of trust.
Gatti, 56, has since issued a statement apologising for his behaviour.
