A Brexit PM
SIR – Allison Pearson writes that Lord Owen is “not convinced the PM has read his letters or absorbed their argument” (Interview, July 30). What chance do we stand if she won’t listen to him?
We need a Brexit prime minister and Cabinet by October – not an election, but a PM who knows what’s what and can work with others as a team.
We cannot go on with Remainers running the negotiations. Judy Jones

SIR – As a lifelong Conservative who has voted in every election since coming of age, I have for the first time joined the Conservative Party with the intention of joining the army of grassroots Conservatives to vote for a successor to the disappointing Theresa May in any leadership contest.
In my view, Boris Johnson is the only person capable of leading the party to success in a general election. Michael Gove is a capable minister, but lacks the charisma to lead the party. Tony Harland-jones
