Profit up at Serco but hiatus in UK

Serco profits climbed to £25.6m from £13m in the first half of 2018, despite revenue dipping 9pc in the period, thanks to “transformation savings and other cost efficiencies”. Serco boss Rupert Soames, however, signalled to an expected “market hiatus caused by a combination of Brexit and market dysfunction” in the UK.
