The informativ­e series Songs That Defined History exploring music tied to seismic historical events reminds us how pop songs can capture the zeitgeist. Tonight’s look at America’s anti-vietnam War movement focuses on the contributi­ons of Neil Young and Stephen Stills. Together in their band they sang Stills’s 1967 anti-war hit For What It’s Worth, and three years later, with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, they had a hit with Ohio, about the Kent State shootings. Exercising their right to protest, they also created enduring pop songs. VP
