Homeless palace trespasser is jailed
A homeless man used a Buckingham Palace display cabinet as bedding after trespassing in the royal grounds, a court heard. Steven Lawlor, 44, broke poster boards and glass cabinets fixed to metal railings on July 16.
Security officials found him sleeping four hours after he bedded down near the south-east corner of the palace.
Lawlor, who has 70 previous convictions, appeared at Westminster magistrates’ court yesterday via video link to plead guilty to criminal damage and trespassing on a protected site.
He was sentenced to 28 days in jail for trespassing and 21 days for criminal damage, to be served concurrently.
