Not Today, thank you
SIR – I am one of the 8 per cent missing from the audiences of Today edited by Sarah Sands (Comment, August 3).
I find myself often turning it off as it meanders piously into political correctness and minority representation – two things of little interest to me. I avoided the nonsense about the UK fashion industry and ran from the programme on athletics.
As a white, middle-class, middleincome professional male living in a field in Devon, proud to vote for the Conservatives (even though they are a complete shower at the moment), I listen politely to other people’s views and do not shout them down.
I support Israel, I like grammar schools and believe in aspiration. I still dislike Gerry Adams and was not at all upset when Martin Mcguinness popped his little nationalist clogs.
I like bread and butter, hunting,
The Daily Telegraph, walking the dogs and peace and quiet. I voted Remain with my business head while my heart shouted out, out, out!
But perhaps I am now in a minority, one that the likes of Mrs Sands see no need to pander to, except in an elitist belief that I must be re-educated. Simon Perks
