Theresa May’s pleas

-

SIR – I am embarrassed at the sight of Theresa May and her Cabinet crawling round Europe pleading with heads of government to accept her terms of surrender. She is humiliating a great country. Has she no pride? Phillip James

SIR – I am weary of being told I did not vote in the 2016 referendum to be “worse off ”. I voted Leave to regain sovereignty, and if it means I shall be poorer, so be it. It will be worth it to be free of the bureaucracy of Brussels. Ian Pattison

Halifax, West Yorkshire

SIR – I went into a shop the other day. The owner said I could buy his goods on the understanding I agreed never to do business with the shop next door.

Odd, I thought, but strangely familiar. Richard Fairbrass

Windsor, Berkshire

SIR – After Brexit, there will be cheaper wine from Australia, New Zealand and America. Panic buying may be expected. The Army might be brought in to help drink the surplus. John Harding

Ripon, North Yorkshire
