Attendant knocked out in car park row

-

A National Trust volunteer was knocked unconscious during a row over parking at a Devon beauty spot.

The 72-year-old parking attendant was “repeatedly kicked and punched while on the ground” during the incident on Thursday, police said.

A man with his family had tried to park a hired red Vauxhall Astra in the turning area of the car park near Mill Bay beach in East Portlemouth.

The attendant was attacked after trying to explain to the driver that the car park was full.

He was taken to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital and is said to be recovering at home.
