Greedy deeds

-

SIR – Peter Sealey (Letters, August 3) paid more than the standard Dartford Crossing charge because he used a “middle man” website.

I had a similar experience with the Land Registry’s website when I wanted to download my title deed. There were many similar sites asking me to pay upwards of £15.

In the end, I was able to reach the real one and got my deed for £3. The annoying thing was the fact that it was very difficult to find. Could this be intentional?

The middle men can get away with it because most customers will not mind paying £15 or £20. However, it should be made compulsory for these expensive websites to declare that a cheaper official website exists. Sakhaullah Asmi
