Seaside carnival made children ‘cry in terror’

-

FAMILIES complained at a seaside carnival after organisers allowed a horror themed float to participate.

Children at Margate Carnival on Sunday were left in tears after actors including one dressed as a chainsaw wielding maniac covered in “blood” appeared during the procession.

Organisers have begun an investigation following claims people in ghoulish costumes had to be told to “back off” from children. A 30-year-old mum, angry at the scary float, said: “The actors were going up to kids and they were crying. It was pretty horrific. There was someone with a bloodied creepy doll’s head on and a man with a chainsaw on the float making a huge noise. Hundreds of kids would have been quite upset.”

A carnival spokesman said: “I saw the costumes and I didn’t think they were too bad. It was more the actions of the actors walking up to the kids and trying to scare them.”
