California’s biggest wildfire on record was expected to burn for the rest of the month, officials said, as hot and windy conditions hampered thousands of fire crews battling eight major blazes. The fire – known as the Mendocino Complex – spanned 290,692 acres (117,639 hectares) by yesterday.
