Up, up and away

A hot-air balloon carries tourists above the “fairy chimneys” of stone that are so soft the Byzantine Greeks carved subterranean cities out of them in Cappadocia, central Turkey. The sightseers can drift above the cone-shaped rock formations and then float up over ravines for breathtaking views.
