French police ‘picking on’ UK aid workers
Aid workers helping migrants in Calais are being intimidated and harassed by French police, four aid associations, including Help Refugees, a British group, claimed in a report published yesterday.
It detailed 600 incidents in the past nine months, including 37 incidents of violence, confiscating phones and preventing food and water being handed out.
“British volunteers have been specifically targeted,” said a Help Refugees spokesman.
However, state and local authorities vehemently deny the allegations.
