Spanish jet ‘accidentally’ fires missile over Estonia
Spain’s defence ministry said it has opened an investigation after one of its Eurofighter jets accidentally fired a missile in the skies over Estonia during a routine training mission.
Two Spanish jets and two French Mirage 2000 aircraft were taking part in the exercise.
The missile, carrying up to 22lb of explosive, is designed to self-destruct in an emergency.
Juri Ratas, Estonia’s prime minister, called it a “startling incident”.
