Ready for electric cars
SIR – Tony Brook (Letters, August 6) asks why local authorities have not made plans for installing charging points for electric cars. Such plans are no part of the duties laid upon local authorities by Parliament, just as they do not plan and provide fuel stations for petrol and diesel cars.
More alarming is the promise to do away with carbon-fuelled cars by 2040, without any planning from the private sector as to how the energy generating and power distributing system can be enhanced to cope. Brian Smith
