will not be back on screens until 2020.
The star, who entered rehab just over four months ago after drunkenly crashing his car, has put off his return to work so that he can focus on his recovery from addiction issues.
There seems to be a popular misconception that 28 days in rehab will be enough to sort out a wayward drinker when, as any recovering alcoholic or addict will tell you, it is only the very beginning of a process that requires daily effort.
Recovery is a bit like an iphone battery – it needs charging every few hours. Addiction has the potential to destroy not just the life of the sufferer, but also that of loved ones.
Recognising this, and taking the appropriate steps to ensure that doesn’t happen, is something to be applauded.
I hope that Ant takes off as much time as he needs. This might just be the smartest career move he has ever made.
