Off-duty PC stabbed but foils gang moped theft
An off-duty police officer successfully fought off armed moped thieves despite being stabbed. The City of London officer was in a stable condition in hospital yesterday evening following the incident in Lewisham, south-east London, on Saturday.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the victim continued to try to stop a robbery despite being stabbed with a “large kitchen knife”. The suspects made off without the moped. Scotland Yard said the officer, 37, saw a group of four males on mopeds trying to steal another moped from a 21-year-old man, who suffered bruising.
