The Deep State

Journalist David Aaronovitch has the somewhat exasperating (one imagines) job of being an expert in conspiracy theories, and debunking them where he can. In this documentary he turns his attention to a particularly fashionable idea in Trump’s America: that of the “Deep State”, a shadowy collection of official intelligence and security agencies who are working to undermine elected officials. But is it in fact a conspiracy theory, or is there some truth to it? The intriguing journey to find out raises plenty of interesting questions.
