A BOY aged just six called police after finding his mother stabbed to death in their south London home yesterday.

Paramedics and an air ambulance were also called to the house in the “Nappy Valley” area of Battersea, but despite efforts to save her, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.41pm.

A 40-year-old man was arrested there on suspicion of murder, and was led away to a police station for questioning.

A neighbour yesterday said of the victim: “She has two kids, a six-year-old boy and a three-month-old.

“The eldest child is the one that called the police. He found her. My

“She said the woman was ringing her doorbell at 9am, but she couldn’t answer as she’d just had an operation.”

Armed police were seen breaking down the door to the property, and officers later removed a folding stepladder from the home.

The end-of-terrace house in Lavender Hill, near Clapham Junction station, was last night cordoned off while police continued investigations.

Another resident said the suspect appeared to be in a “calm” state at the time of his arrest.

Vickie Foot, a 43-year-old mother-of-three, said: “They handcuffed him and put him into the van. He looked quite calm.”

Police reassured residents, telling them: “It’s not gang-related.”

A Scotland Yard spokesman said last night: “Police were called to a report of a stabbing at an address in Grayshott Road, Battersea, at 12.38pm.

“Officers attended, along with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

“A woman was found with a stab injury. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.41pm.”
