Quarter of disabled bay cars lack blue badge
A QUARTER of cars using disabled bays do not have a blue badge, a survey has found.
The study, by Direct Line, the car insurance firm, also revealed that one driver in 10 makes errors in car parks, committing offences such as parking over lines and driving in the wrong direction.
Researchers studied a total of 2,580 cars in 11 UK car parks and found that one in four parked in a disabled bay were not displaying a blue badge, which proves someone has decreased mobility or is disabled.
While supermarket car parks are privately owned and there are no universal regulations, parking in disabled bays without a permit can lead to fines and seizure of the vehicle.
Supermarkets Tesco, Asda and Morrisons request that customers display a blue badge on their vehicles if they park in a disabled bay.
