Body found at castle in hunt for schoolgirl, 17

A body was found last night following a major air, land and sea search for a missing teenage girl in Scotland.

Hannah Mackenzie, 17, was last seen outside Nicolson Institute, her school in Stornoway, at 4pm on Thursday. She disappeared following her first day back at school on the Isle of Lewis.

Coastguards said there was a possible sighting of her in the Stornoway Castle grounds on Thursday evening and a body was found there last night. Police Scotland said: “Our thoughts are with all concerned at this difficult time.”
