Children left in care of ‘inadequate’ services
More than 13,000 children are being looked after by local authorities with services deemed inadequate, a report has found. A “silent crisis” in the social care system has left tens of thousands of children in the care of authorities that are deemed to provide insufficient child services, according to the report from the Social Market Foundation.
According to the report, 47,000 children are being cared for by local authorities that require improvements, while 13,000 are being looked after by councils with services deemed to be “inadequate” by Ofsted.
