Children left in care of ‘inadequate’ services

More than 13,000 children are being looked after by local authoritie­s with services deemed inadequate, a report has found. A “silent crisis” in the social care system has left tens of thousands of children in the care of authoritie­s that are deemed to provide insufficie­nt child services, according to the report from the Social Market Foundation.

According to the report, 47,000 children are being cared for by local authoritie­s that require improvemen­ts, while 13,000 are being looked after by councils with services deemed to be “inadequate” by Ofsted.
