Dwarfs in Art: A New Perspective
BBC FOUR, 9.00PM
This documentary by Richard Butchins looks at how dwarfs have been represented in art and society through the ages. Valued by the ancient Egyptians, dwarfs were shunned by the ancient Greeks and Romans, and their fortunes went up and down in similar fashion over the centuries. A wealth of artworks as well as insights from thoughtful contributors, such as actress Kiruna Stamell, who has dwarfism, help Butchins examine how attitudes have changed.
