Hackers steal details of Superdrug customers

-

Superdrug has become the latest high street chain to fall victim to hackers as the retailer yesterday warned that as many as 20,000 customers may have had details stolen.

The pharmacy advised thousands of its online customers to change their passwords after hackers attempted to blackmail the chain.

It said it had been contacted late on Monday by a group which threatened to sell its customers’ details on the dark web unless they were paid a ransom. Peter Macnab, Superdrug’s chief executive, said that no payment card information was stolen, although personal email addresses and passwords were compromised.
